Fatima completed her pharmacy training at the University of Khartoum in Sudan before earning an MS in Toxicology from the Università degli Studi di Milano in Italy and a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Minnesota. During her doctoral work, she developed nanotechnology-based vaccine platforms and evaluated novel adjuvants to accelerate the translation of next-generation, more effective vaccines.
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Pravetoni Lab, Fatima develops non-animal, in vitro and ex vivo approaches to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, and other therapeutics, while supporting biomarker discovery and translational immunology projects. Outside the lab, Fatima enjoys traveling, cooking, exploring different cultures, trying new things, and spending time with family and friends.
