Simar Singh, PhD

Post-Doctoral Scholar

Simar is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Pravetoni Lab, where he focuses on developing novel in vitro assays to screen and characterize the mechanisms of action of immunotherapeutics designed to treat opioid use disorder and opioid overdose. He earned his B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Washington, where he identified mechanisms underlying endocannabinoid production in neurons.

With expertise in dissecting intracellular signaling pathways and developing assays to test diverse pharmacological agents, Simar is particularly interested in incorporating in vitro models of complex physiological processes into the drug-development pipeline. His long-term goal is to support the discovery of next-generation biologics for the treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases.

Outside of the lab, Simar enjoys exploring the Seattle food scene, especially looking for the best scones in the city, playing tennis, urban hiking (usually to play pinball), and spending time with friends that force him to play competitive board games against his will.
