Liz Maliga, MA

As Program Operations Specialist, Liz supports the lab’s operational, administrative, and compliance needs conducting federally funded biomedical research within an academic medical center. Support includes collaboration on proposal development and submissions; coordinating with departmental and central offices on budgeting, effort tracking, and reporting; and ensuring compliance with NIH, institutional, and federal requirements; and managing research-related travel, procurement, and documentation.

Liz grew up in Maine and lived in Massachusetts and New Mexico before moving to Seattle. She holds a master’s in composition and rhetoric from the University of Maine and taught writing and technical communication at the college level until 2020. Liz joined UW in October 2021 and served as Assistant to the Chair for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine until joining the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in September 2025. Outside of work, Liz is a Capricorn, a crossword puzzle enthusiast, Bravo scholar, bad runner, and cat bestie.
